Navibulgar tipped to take on two more handy bulk carriers

Samsun Logix Corporation is trimming its smallest bulkers from its fleet list. Brokers report the Korean company, which is going through a debt restructuring process, has just offloaded the 32,600-dwt Tesoro and its sistership Regina.

The five-year-old pair are the youngest ships in Samsun Logix’s fleet. If the sale is finalised, the Korean firm is left with three capesizes built in the early 1990s and a couple of panamaxes and a handymax in similar age group as the aging cape trio.

The buyer of the two ships is tipped to be Bulgarian flagship company Navibulgar with a price thought to be in the region of $9m each.

Navibulgar is going through a fleet renewal phase. It took two similarly sized ships earlier this year from Cosco Tianjin as well as ordering six new handysizes in China.
