Navig8 in for aframax series at New Times

China’s New Times shipyard has bagged a big deal ahead of the Lunar New Year with brokers confirming Navig8 has come in for a series of aframaxes. The long telegraphed deal has now been fixed with Navig8 ordering four firm 115,000 dwt tankers with two plus two as options. Each ship is costing $42m and the firm ships are set to deliver next year. The yard however failed to confirm the deal when contacted by Splash today.

In Navig8’s diverse fleet there are a total of 20 aframaxes trading at present. Navig8’s ship orders in the past year have tended to focus on the chemical and product sectors – this is the first crude tanker order for more than a year.
