Navios adds supramax, offloads panamax

Angeliki Frangou’s Navios Maritime Holdings has been busy in the sale and purchase market this month according to its latest quarterly report.

Navios said that earlier this month it acquired 2007-built supramax Navios Primavera. The 53,464 dwt vessel had been chartered in from Japan’s Shoei Kisen Kaisha, with Navios exercising an option to acquire it for $10.5m. MSI places a fair market value on the ship of $12.9m.

Additionally, Navios also revealed the recent sale of 2000-built panamax bulker Navios Magellan. The Japanese bulker was sold to an unrelated third party for $7m, to be paid in cash. MSI values the vessel at $8.5m.

Navios controls a fleet of 70 vessels including chartered-in vessels, made up predominantly of capesizes and panamaxes.
