Navios Containers adds boxship quartet

Angeliki Frangou’s Navios Maritime Containers continues to grow its fleet at a rapid pace, splashing out $128.6m for the acquisition of four containerships.

Navios Containers has agreed to acquire two 2010-built 4,360 teu vessels from an unrelated third party for $23.6m. Delivery of the pair is expected before the end of the year.

Additionally, Navios has taken options to acquire two 2011-built 10,000 teu ships, again from an unrelated third party, for $52.5m each. The pair are expected to be delivered in the first and second quarter of 2019 if the options are exercised.

Navios says it expects the four vessels to generate approximately $16.1m of aggregate EBITDA in the twelve months period following their delivery.

Headquartered in Monaco, Navios Maritime Containers was founded by Navios Maritime Holdings in April last year, and upon completion of the acquisitions will have a fleet of 30 vessels.
