Navios Maritime Containers adds another boxship

Angeliki Frangou’s Navios Maritime Containers has acquired a 2009-built 4,563 teu containership from an unnamed third party for $13.9m.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery before the end of the year, and will take the Navios Containers fleet to a total of 31 vessels, including five vessels acquired last month. It also has options on four additional vessels from affiliate Navios Maritime Partners.

The company said it will finance the acquisition with cash and $9m of additional bank debt.

Navios Maritime Containers filed with the SEC last month to raise up to $100m in an initial public offering on the Nasdaq.
