Navios Maritime Containers adds three more boxships

Navios Maritime Containers continues to expand at a rapid rate, acquiring three more containerships for a total of $117.25m.

The company has acquired two 8,204 teu vessels, YM Utmost and YM Unity, from affiliate Navios Maritime Partners, splashing out $67m. The pair are currently chartered out at $34,266 per day.

It has also acquired a 10,000 teu boxship from an unnamed third party for $50.25m, with the vessel currently chartered out at $26,663 per day until March 2019.

The acquisitions will be funded by cash and around $61m of new bank debt.

Since setting up shop in April 2017, Navios Containers has grown its fleet to 25 vessels.

Grant Rowles

Grant spent nine years at Informa Group based in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gained strong management experience in publishing, conferences and awards schemes in the shipping and legal areas, working on a number of titles including Lloyd's List. In 2009 Grant joined Seatrade responsible for the commercial development of Seatrade’s Asia products. In 2012, with Sam Chambers, he co-founded Asia Shipping Media.
