Neptune Leasing brings in Lars Solbakken

Former Ocean Yield chief executive Lars Solbakken has joined Neptune Maritime Leasing as an adviser to its executive board.

Neptune Leasing was set up in 2021 by veteran financier Harris Antoniou with the Lastis family as anchor investor. In March this year, Greek boxship and bulker owner Costamare also came onboard as the leading investor in the Jersey-based outfit through an injection of up to $200m.

Commenting on his appointment, Solbakken, said: “I am pleased to start working as an adviser to Neptune Leasing. The company is well positioned to offer a very competitive leasing product and should be a very attractive financing partner for both shipping and oil-service companies.”

Solbakken has had a number of senior positions within shipping and banking. He has been CEO of Ship Finance International, Norwegian Car Carriers and from 2012 until early 2022 Ocean Yield. Within banking, he has been general manager of Fortis Bank’s Oslo branch and in Christiania Bank, now Nordea, he was senior vice president and deputy head of shipping.

“We are honoured that yet another leading shipping expert has agreed to support our platform of leasing services to the maritime community. Lars will help us reach our goal to build a high-quality diversified portfolio in shipping and oil-services. I welcome Lars to Neptune Leasing,” added Antoniou.
