New German heavylift operator

Hamburg: Germany has a new heavylift player. Former SAL highflyer Lars Rolner has founded United Heavy Lift in Hamburg. Rolner, who quit the now K Line controlled SAL late last year to work at his own design firm HeavyLift@Sea, has formed a venture with chartering broker Arkon Shipping & Projects.

United Heavy Lift has also formed a partnership with another German shipowner, Heino Winter.

United Heavy Lift will operate as a tramp project carrier with a fleet of up to 18 ships ranging in size from 8,000 to 19,000 dwt. As well as a Hamburg office, it has set up an office in Seoul.
