New port to ease pressure at Jeddah

Doha: Saudi Arabia is pushing ahead with construction of a brand new port to ease pressure at the nation’s number one port, Jeddah. The chairman of the Saudi Ports General Organisation, Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijri, said the new port, Leith, will be built on 43m sq m of land, and the private sector will be called on to help with the construction, financing and operation of the port. Leith is also, of course, a famous port on the outskirts of the Scottish capital, Edinburgh.  [21/04/13]
