New session, speakers and sponsors announced for next year’s inaugural Geneva Dry

In the three weeks since launching Geneva Dry with the aim of becoming the world’s premier commodities shipping conference, organisers have been busy adding a stellar line-up of speakers, sponsors, and even an extra session thanks to the overwhelming response to the new show.

Scheduled to take place at the Hotel President Wilson on the shore of Lake Geneva on May 2 and 3 next year, the event has been designed to ensure every rung of the global dry bulk supply chain meets under one roof to hammer out deals and collaboration pacts.

In addition to speakers already announced, new headline names added to the roster include Eman Abdalla, global operations director at Cargill Ocean Transportation, William Fairclough, managing director of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings, Martin Fruergaard, CEO of Pacific Basin Shipping and Peter Weernink, chairman of SwissMarine. Further speaker additions are set to be revealed in the coming days.

New sponsors who have come onboard in the past three weeks include Aderco, Braemar, Bureau Veritas, Dualog, Pacific Basin and Rustibus.

With speaking slots rapidly filling up, and demand for maximum content at the event, the organisers have decided to add an extra session on Day One of Geneva Dry. Slotting in just ahead of the Opening Reception will be an hour-long debate entitled ‘The Future Of Fixing’. The business of fixing ships is at a crossroads, ready for its ‘Expedia’ moment. How brokers evolve, and what owners and charterers will seek from their broking houses in the years ahead will make for an engaging, lively session.

Commenting on the speed with which the event has come together, Grant Rowles, Geneva Dry’s commercial director, said: “It is truly gratifying to see the dry bulk community get what we are trying to put together – the global annual summit for the sector to come together and do deals. The take-up has been remarkable for a brand new show to garner such interest so fast.”
