New Sino-German owner orders feeder series

A new Sino-German owner has ordered a series of feeder boxships in China. The Chinese national shipbuilding association is reporting Leer-based Gerchicon has ordered three firm 2,300 teu ships at Zhoushan Changhong International with the contract carrying up to six options. Delivery starts in 2020.

Although based in Leer, Gerchicon, founded this year, is led by two Chinese managing directors.

The order from German seals a solid end to the year for Zhoushan Changhong International with a host of other feederships ordered by Southeast Asian owners there in the past six weeks.
