Nils Andersen appointed chairman of Unilever

European consumer goods giant Unilever has appointed the former boss of Maersk as its new chairman. Nils Andersen steps up from non-executive director to take over from Marijn Dekkers.

Andersen served as CEO at AP Moller-Maersk for nine years through to 2016. Prior to that he headed up Danish brewing firm Carslberg. He is also the chairman at paints company, AkzoNobel.

“I look forward to working with the board and the Unilever leadership team to support the company’s continued growth,” Andersen said on his appointment yesterday.

Andersen continues to have an interest in shipping, being one of the founders of More Ships, a ship investment vehicle created by top names in Danish business earlier this year.
