Ningbo Marine acquires handysize bulker

Chinese dry bulk operator Ningbo Marine has announced the acquisition of 2012-built handysize bulk carrier Shelduck through its subsidiary Zhejiang Tongli Shipping.

The 34,500 dwt was sold by Greek owner Seastar Chartering for a price of $9.5m. Ningbo Marine plans to rename the vessel ZJE 6.

The vessel will be mainly used for transporting coal for its parent company Zhejiang Energy.

Zheneng Tongli Shipping’s only owned vessel, 1986-built handy bulker Fu Xing 16, will be sent to scrap in December.

Ningbo Marine currently owns a fleet of 42 vessels made up of 25 bulkers and 17 feeder boxships.
