Ningbo Marine sends elderly handy bulker to scrap

Chinese dry bulk shipping operator Ningbo Marine has sold its 1986-built handysize bulker Mingzhou 6 for demolition.

The 27,400 dwt vessel has been sold for a price of RMB15.1m ($2.2m).

Ningbo Marine said the sale of the vessel is part of the company’s strategy to accelerate fleet optimisation.

Ningbo Marine currently owns a fleet of 36 vessels with average age of 13 years, comprising of 26 bulkers and 10 feeder containerships. It also has one 10,000 dwt tanker on order.
