Nomikos bulk carrier finally allowed to leave the Philippines

The Nomikos Transworld Maritime-controlled bulk carrier Vienna Wood N has departed the Philippines three months after it collided with a fishing vessel resulting in the loss of 14 lives.

The ship had been detained at the port of Batanagas since the end of June. It is now bound for Shanghai after the Philippine Coast Guard decided to drop criminal charges against the crew and owner.

In August, Nomikos Transworld Maritime reached a civil settlement with the families of the dead crew from the sunken fishing trip.
