Norden signs 10-year coal transportation contract with GNPower

Danish owner Norden has signed a 10-year deal with GNPower Mariveles Coal Plant, the owner and operator of a power plant on Luzon Island in the Philippines, for the transportation of 20-24 million tons of coal to the plant.

The contract starts in the first quarter of 2017, and Norden says it is the largest contract in the company’s history in terms of volume.

Jan Rindbo, CEO of Norden, commented: ”We are both proud and happy that GNPower has chosen NORDEN to handle the transportation of coal to this modern power plant over the coming 10 years. It reflects that the customers know NORDEN to be a reliable and safe business partner which you can count on – also when it concerns very long-term contracts.”

Norden will be shipping coal from Indonesia to the Philippines on panamax vessels, making roughly 25-30 trips a year with each taking around 20 days.
