Nordic American Tankers fixes suezmax pair to Shell

Nordic American Tankers has fixed two suezmax tankers to Shell on time charter for a period of 18 months.

The charters will commence either late this month or early next month, adding to another suezmax already on charter to Shell. The identity of the two vessels and commercial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Herbjørn Hansson, chairman and CEO of Nordic American Tankers, commented: “We are pleased to announce these important contracts which are examples of the confidence customers and partners in Big Oil have in NAT and our large fleet of Suezmax vessels. More or less all the time, we have ships in China. NAT is also doing work in India which is becoming increasingly more important.”

Nordic America Tankers has a fleet of 30 suezmaxes plus a additional three on order due for delivery in 2018. Six of the vessels are locked into time charters while the remaining vessels trade on the spot market.
