Nordic American Tankers sells two suezmaxes to make way for newbuilds

Nordic American Tankers (NAT) is offloading two of its vessels, confirming a deal to sell a pair of suezmaxes with completion expected in the next few weeks.

According to chairman and CEO Herbjørn Hansson, the sale will “assist in retaining the flexibility of NAT going forward”, although he didn’t reveal the identity of the two vessels being sold.

The sale reduces the company’s fleet from 33 vessels, all suezmaxes, to 31 vessels. NAT also has three newbuildings set to join the fleet this year, the first one due in July.
