Nordic American Tankers swoops for four suezmaxes

Nordic American Tankers (NAT) has swooped for four suezmaxes. The Herbjorn Hansson-led tanker firm is paying $106m for the Japanese-built quartet. The ships or their owner were not identified in a release from NAT.

“The seller is a well-respected group that has owned the four more or less identical sister vessels since they were built,” NAT said in a release. Two were built in 2004, one in 2003 and one in 2000.
NAT still has two newbuilds to deliver through to January next year.

“By adding four more ships to 30 units we increase the dividend capacity and bolster our earnings potential,” the company said in the release.
