Nordic Hamburg offloads bulker pair

Active owner Nordic Hamburg Shipping continues to rejig its fleet with brokers noting it has sold a pair of recently delivered bulk carriers. Sister ships Nordic Perth and Nordic Darwin – both geared, Chinese-built and 37,300 dwt, have been taken by Aquavita International, an 11-year-old Ukrainian outfit that now controls a fleet of more than 40 ships. The ships have been sold at $20m a unit in a deal that also includes seven year bare boat hire and purchases.

Nordic Hamburg has had a busy year. In May it took on a 3,500 teu boxship from Hansa Shipping.

Founded in 2006 by Rowil Ponta and Richard Grube, Nordic Hamburg today has a fleet of small boxships as well as a strong dry bulk portfolio ships ranging in size from 35,000 dwt to 57,000 dwt.
