Northport bows to customer concerns and cancels prayer breaks

Kuala Lumpur: Northport has bowed to customer pressure and quickly canned a planned prayer break at its terminal. Shipping lines were shocked at a new ruling from Northport last week stating that every Friday operations will be suspended for 70 minutes during Friday prayers to strike a proper “work-life balance”.

Effective January 2, operations were set to cease at or around 12.40pm and resume at or around 1.50pm every Friday, to allow Muslim staff to attend Friday prayers.

The announcement has not impressed the Port Klang Authority however who have demanded the ruling is rescinded.

The terminal took heed and today announced to its clients that the idea to suspend operations had been cancelled. [17/11/14]
