Norwegian shipmanagement venture launched to fight competition from Asia

Norwegian companies Jebsens and Seatrans have formed a third-party shipmanagement joint venture called 7Mountains Maritime. The pair said the venture came about as a response to the dramatic growth of Asian managers.

“We see significant opportunities in an industry that is increasingly being challenged by large Asia-based shipmanagement companies. In the new company, we will use many years of experience and expertise, for the benefit of small and medium-sized shipping companies. In 7Mountains Maritime we will offer our customers solutions we use ourselves, thereby contributing to better operations for the shipping companies,” the CEOs of Jebsens and Seatrans said in a joint statement.

The new company will be headquartered in Bergen, a city surrounded by seven mountains.
