Not a bright start for China Star

Shanghai: China Star, the luxury cruise ship bought by Zhejiang tycoon Huang Weijian at the end of last year, is ready for its first voyage soon.

The refitted cruise ship had its trial voyage in March and was set to start operations in May, but the first voyage was postponed primarily due to financial reasons.

“The service level onboard hadn’t reached the required standard, but we are improving it now. Also four of our shareholders went bankrupt during the financial crisis in Zhejiang Province not very long after we bought the cruise ship. We have also been looking for new shareholders. Hopefully we will start operations in the next couple of months,” Huang told local media.
