Nova Marine Carriers opens Geneva grain desk

Lugano-based dry bulk specialist Nova Marine Carriers has announced the opening of a new branch office with a dedicated grain desk in Geneva, Switzerland.

Vincenzo Romeo, CEO of Nova Marine Carriers, explained to Splash the move, saying: “We have decided to move our freight trader Cedric Lopresti from Lugano in order to have him closer to our clients in this market since Geneva is the real grain capital. Historically grain shipping was not a core market for our group but it’s now becoming more and more important as we have a target of 700,000 tons of cargo for the first year.”

Romeo added that the company is going “to heavily focus on the grain business in the near future which will be served with handysize and supramax bulk carriers”.
