Nova Marine Carriers orders 18 bulkers at Ningbo Xinle

Nova Marine Carriers has signed shipbuilding contracts with China’s Ningbo Xinle Shipbuilding for the construction of 18 mini bulk carriers.

The order is made up of six 8,000 dwt bulkers and twelve 6,000 dwt bulkers, with delivery of the first vessel scheduled in the second half of 2019.

The vessels will be deployed for the Swiss owner’s short sea shipping operations upon completion.

Nova Marine Carriers has been active in the secondhand bulker market this year, having acquired three handy bulkers in April and one supramax in February.

According to the company’s website, it currently operates a fleet of about 80 vessels.
