November opening for Zhoushan cruise terminal

Shanghai: To promote the development of the Zhoushan Islands, Zhejiang provincial development and reform commission has approved a project to build the Zhoushan Islands international cruise terminal, which is expected to launch operation in October and start direct shipping to Taiwan by the end of this year.

The cruise terminal project is located at Shenjiamen port area, and will be able to handle 100,000 dwt ships in the deepsea port.

According to the National Tourism Bureau’s plan, Zhoushan has been included as one of seven cruise home ports. The cruise terminal will focus on foreign tourists.

The archipelago of Zhoushan includes many popular tourist destinations, including Putuoshan, an ancient, beautiful Buddhist island. [14/02/14]
