Ocean Installer awarded Balder field ExxonMobil contract

Oslo: Norwegian subsea company Ocean Installer has been awarded a call-off contract with ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Norway, its first under a new framework agreement.

The contract is for a subsea well tie-back, engineering, IRM, ROV and associated services at the Balder field, located in blocks 25/10 and 25/11 in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. It comprises fabrication and installation of electrical distribution unit mud mat, transportation and installation of an 8” production flexible jumper with 2.5” gas lift jumper, and several hydraulic and electrical flying leads.

The Normand Mermaid (4,060dwt, built 2002), currently on a five-year charter from Solstad, will be used for the installation work offshore.

“We are pleased to be back at the Balder field, having performed work here also in 2012 and we are looking forward to continue our cooperation with ExxonMobil,” commented Steinar Riise, CEO of Ocean Installer.

The contract, starting in July, also includes an option to perform a similar work scope in the second quarter of 2016.
