Ocean Yield finances Interlink handysize newbuild

Norwegian owner Ocean Yield has entered into an agreement to acquire a handysize dry bulk newbuilding, which will then go back onto a ten-year bareboat charter to an affiliate company of Interlink Maritime.

The purchase price is $18m net of pre-paid charter hire, and the vessel is expected to be delivered from the shipyard by the end of September. Interlink will have certain options to either sell or acquire the vessel during the charter period.

Ocean Yield will own six vessels on long-term charter to Interlink Maritime after this latest transaction is completed.

Interlink Maritime, majority owned by the Carlyle Group, mainly transports agricultural and industrial commodities and currently owns a fleet of 28 handysize vessels.
