Oceanbulk orders capesize quartet at Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding

Greek owner Oceanbulk has placed an order at CSSC-affiliated Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for the construction of four 180,000 dwt capesize bulk carriers.

The price for each vessel is $43m and deliveries will start from 2019.

Oceanbulk is a repeat customer at Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. It took delivery of two 208,000 dwt capesize bulkers from the shipyard in April and will take delivery of three 11,000 teu containerships from the yard this year.

Oceanbulk operates a fleet of 31 vessels made up of 9 bulkers, 4 containerships and 18 tankers. Including the latest order, the company now has eleven newbuildings under construction at Chinese and South Korean yards.
