Octanex awards drilling contract to UMV

Malaysia’s UMW Offshore Drilling has won a contract from Australian oil and gas exploration company Octanex for drilling services at Ophir Oil Field offshore Malaysia.

UMV will deploy its jackup rig NAGA 2 to the field in second quarter of 2017 to drill three production wells.

The Ophir Oil Field is being developed under a risk service contract granted in 2014 to a joint venture company in which Octanex has a 50% interest.

“The award of the drilling rig contract locks in significant cost savings for the Ophir project and is an important milestone for the Ophir development,” commented Rae Clark, COO of Octanex.
