Odfjell Tankers head steps down

Oslo: After a 35-year career at Odfjell, Morten Nystad is stepping as head of Odfjell Tankers from today. Odfjell has started the process of identifying a new head of Odfjell Tankers. Until a new head is appointed, Tore Jakobsen, Odfjell’s president and ceo, will be in temporary charge.

Before taking on the Odfjell Tankers top job, Nystad held various management positions within Odfjell’s chartering department in Bergen and other overseas locations.

Odfjell Tankers has a fleet of about 80 chemical tankers ranges in carrying capacities from 4,000 to 75,000 dwt.

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
