Norway’s Odfjell Drilling has confirmed it is cutting its workforce by a further 230, having reduced its workforce by 800 employees in the third quarter of 2014.
The significant cuts represent around a fifth of the company’s Norwegian shelf workforce, with company spokesperson Gisle Johanson telling Splash that the cuts are “due to reduced demand for drilling services offshore Norway.”
In its third quarter report for 2015, Odfjell Drilling preempted the cuts in its outlook citing weakening market conditions as a catalyst for further cost cuts and efficiency improvement programs.
