Odfjell Drilling sends rig to Semco for modifications prior to Total contract

Odfjell Drilling and Semco Maritime have signed a contract for preparation and modification of semi-submersible rig Deepsea Stavanger prior to the commencement of a nine-month drilling campaign for Total.

The rig will complete a high docking in Semco Maritime’s yard at Hanøytangen, in the first quarter of 2020, before being mobilised to South Africa. The scope of the project includes upgrading of the rig’s hull and mooring system as well as installation of purpose-built equipment for the contract with Total off South Africa.

“We are proud and humbled that world-class drilling company Odfjell Drilling has selected the Semco Maritime team for this complex and high profile project. The high docking enables for a minimized diving operation during antifouling of the hull and optimisation of the time spent on seawater valve change,” said Lars Jønholt Halvorsen, managing director of Semco Maritime Norway.
