Ofer’s XT takes K Line cape

XT Shipping, the joint venture between Idan Ofer and Udi Angel, has bagged one of the first capes reported sold by brokers this year.

Sources say the Israeli owner has put $20.5m on the table for the 185,800 dwt Cape Med (built 2006) in an off market deal with Japanese giant K Line. The deal appears to be done some time ago as European database Equasis’s fleetlist already has registered the change in ownership of the ship a week ago.

The ship is the second cape in XT Shipping fleet list.  XT is more active on the container side of shipping with close to 20 ships.

Late last year XT Shipping cleared out one older capesize for demolition in Bangladesh and  one of its container vessels also for  demolition.

XT Shipping is a part of the XT Group, one of Israel’s largest, privately held group of companies.
