Offshore Heavy Transport tapped to ship Transocean Winner rig for scrapping

The UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has signed a contract with Norway’s Offshore Heavy Transport (OHT) to transport the decommissioned Transocean Winner which ran aground off the isle of Lewis in Scotland last month. The rig was being towed from Norway to Malta when it detached from its tug in stormy conditions in early August requiring a significant salvage operation.

OHT will take the rig to Turkey for scrapping on the semi-submersible heavylift ship, OHT Hawk at the end of this month.
