Okeanis Eco Tankers secures funding for newbuild VLCC

Okeanis Eco Tankers, the Oslo-listed Alafouzos family tanker vehicle, has secured a loan facility for $59m from ABN Amro to finance one of its VLCC newbuildings under construction at Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

Okeanis has four VLCC new buildings under construction at HHI and last month secured financing for two of the vessels. The company says it is in advanced discussions regarding the last remaining unfinanced VLCC newbuilding and expects do announce a deal before the end of the year.

Seperately, Okeanis also announced a private placement looking to raise gross proceeds of $20m to $45m in connection with its anticipated listing on Oslo Axess.
