Oldendorff back at Hantong for newcastlemaxes

Oldendorff Carriers is back at one its favoured Chinese yards for a sizeable newcastlemax order.

The German shipping giant is understood to have placed an order for two firm plus two options 209,000 dwt bulkers at Jiangsu Hantong. The ships will deliver in 2020 with brokers saying they are costing $47m per unit. The ships will be Tier III compliant.

Oldendorff knows Hantong well, having ordered a series of newcastlemaxes there back in 2014. Last year it ordered a pair of kamsarmaxes at the same yard.
