Oltmann Schiffahrts sells last bulker

After nine years in the bulker segment the predominantly container focused Oltmann Schiffahrts has decided to let go of its last bulker, selling a ship built at China’s Jiangsu Hantong yard.

Broker sources tell Splash that the family run owner spearheaded by Peter and Jan Oltmann has decided to go all in for container vessels by finally selling the 56,700-dwt JPO Delphinus to South Korean buyers.

Prices for the ship vary, with one broker noting the ship sold in the high $8ms, while another report says the ship fetched $9m.

Last year Oltmann Schiffahrts offloaded a sister ship, the 56,700-dwt JPO Dorado for $10m.

The latest sale leaves the outfit with 14 containerships with an average age of 15 years, according to data from VesselsValue.
