Østensjø Rederi sells Edda Fonn to Royal New Zealand Navy

Østensjø Rederi has sold 2003-built IMR, survey and light construction vessel Edda Fonn to the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Local media puts the price at NZ$103m ($69m) while delivery is scheduled for May 2019. Prior to delivery, the vessel will be outfitted with dive, ROV and hydrographic systems as requested by the buyer.

Kenneth Walland, CEO of Østensjø Rederi, commented: “Edda Fonn was built in 2003 and has served our company to great satisfaction. However, we are very pleased with the sale, and it will give our company opportunity to reinvest in new tonnage.”

The vessel is currently on charter to Reach Subsea until the end of the year.
