OSV runs aground in US Virgin Islands

A Togo-flagged offshore supply vessel ran aground and was later refloated on Tuesday just off the entrance of the Charlotte Amalie Harbor East Gregory Channel in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The 1982-built Ocean Spirit 1, owned by Ferrol Trucking Services, was tended to by US Coast Guard (USCG) and Sea Tow St Thomas to minimize any possible leakage of fluids or damage to the hull and ballast tanks.

No pollution or injuries were reported and USCG marine casualty investigators were looking into the cause of the incident.

The East Gregory Channel remained open to maritime traffic during the incident and recovery process.
