Mexico’s oil safety agency ASEA said on Friday that the country’s state-run oil giant Pemex faces no fines over a fatal April explosion on one of its offshore platforms, according to Reuters.
The April 1 blast at the Abkatun A Permanente processing platform in the Gulf of Mexico cost seven lives, left 45 people injured (some of them seriously) and led to reduced crude production at several fields that fed the platform.
ASEA said there would be no fines because its investigation of the incident revealed no violation of safety regulations.
