Perception - or the lack of it - plays heavy in shipping. I have always extolled the virtues for all in maritime - whether in sales, legal, accounting, R&D, senior management or whatever - to spend a few days on a voyage. Once you’ve experienced daily life at sea for more than a quick ship launch tour, then there’s every chance you’ll finally be more receptive to the plight of those stuck there for so long during the ongoing crew change crisis.
