Pertamina targets more refineries

Jakarta: With President Joko Widodo demanding the country’s refineries are modernised and new ones built, state run energy giant Pertamina is expected to sign agreements with China’s CNOOC, Saudi Aramco, Thailand’s PTT and a Japanese oil firm next week covering direct oil sales and refinery investments in the Southeast Asian nation.

“We are looking for partners to develop refineries and that can guarantee security of supply,” Ahmad Bambang, Pertamina’s new director of refining, trading and marketing, told reporters at a company event yesterday.

Pertamina is mulling building up to three new refineries of up to 300,000 barrels a day each.  [04/12/14]
