Petrobras terminates Havila PSV contract

Havila Shipping has announced that Petrobras, the state run oil company of Brazil, has terminated a contract for the PSV vessel Havila Fortress.

Havila signed the chartering contract with Petrobras in 2012 for a firm period of four years. The contract had a duration until July 2016.

Petrobras also cancelled the contract for Havila Shipping’s OSV Havila Faith in March.

Financially troubled Havila Shipping is currently in a restructuring process. In February, the creditors of Havila Shipping failed to agree to the company’s revised restructuring plans, leaving the OSV firm on the brink.

Havila said it remains in a “challenging position” and is now in touch with creditors again to reach a standstill agreement.
