Petrofac wins BP Caspian deal

Dubai: Oil and gas facilities service provider Petrofac has been awarded a contract worth approximately $8.5mn to provide maintenance build capabilities to the BP-operated Shah Deniz 2 project, in the Caspian Sea.

Plant Asset Management, Petrofac’s asset performance management consulting business, will be responsible for delivering the contract, which covers onshore, offshore, and pipeline assets in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian for one of the world's largest gas developments.

Due to be completed in 2018, the contract is part of a long-term project to open a new Southern Gas Corridor and thereby see Shah Deniz 2 add a further 16bn cu m of gas production per year to the current 9bn cu m produced by Shah Deniz Stage 1.  [31/07/14]
