Petronas hires jack-up rig from UMW Offshore Drilling

Malaysia’s UMW Offshore Drilling is to provide one of its jack-up drilling rigs to Petronas Carigali for up to eight months, commencing October 15. No value for the contract was disclosed.

The rig, UMW NAGA 7, has been contracted for seven firm wells, each of which are estimated to take around one month to drill, plus one further optional well.

UMW NAGA 7 is an independent-leg cantilever jack-up rig, able to drill to depths of 30,000 feet in water depth of up to 375 feet.

Petronas Carigali is involved in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas on behalf of the Petronas group, Malaysia’s state energy company.
