PGS Geophysical appeals court decision in favour of GC Rieber

GC Rieber Shipping has announced that PGS Geophysical has appealed a decision by the Bergen district court in a lawsuit against Armada Seismic Invest II, a subsidiary of GC Rieber Shipping.

The $9.8m claim was filed in June 2012 by Arrow Seismic Invest II, now known as PGS Geophysical (UK), which alleged Armada acted negligently when it took delivery of seismic vessel Polar Duchess in October 2011.

However, the claim was dismissed by the Bergen district court in March.

GC Rieber said Armada maintains its view that the claim is unfounded and it will continue to defend itself against the claim before the court of appeal, from which a judgment may be expected in 2017.
