Philippine port priorities in 2014

Manila: Among priorities for the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) this year are rebuilding ports in the centre of the country hit by the recent mega typhoon as well as modernizing ports in Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, General Santos and Zamboanga.

“This year, we are expected to introduce breakthrough changes in our policies particularly in the streamlining of our requirements, more deployment of technology-driven processes to improve the delivery of our services and reform in the modality of adjusting cargo-handling tariff and other charges and fees,” Juan Sta. Ana, PPA general manager said in a statement.

“It is imperative for us to introduce these reforms against the backdrop of an impending Asean economic integration by 2015,” he said.  [10/01/14]
