PIL takes over Mariana Express Lines

Singapore: Pacific International Lines (PIL) along with Luen Thai Group has bought out fellow Singapore-headquartered containerline Mariana Express Lines for an undisclosed sum. PIL becomes Mariana’s majority shareholder following the deal concluded this month.

The Mariana brand will continue. PIL has other subsidiary lines, Pacific Direct Lines and Advanced Container Lines operating container services in the Southern Pacific Islands and feeder services in Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent respectively.

Mariana, founded in 1997, focuses on niche routes in Asia, with a strong focus on the Pacific Islands. It also has its own agency division, Mariana Shipping.

Jimmy Setiawan Simon will manage Mariana’s operations as its general manager.
