Pioneer Marine hands commercial operations to BaltNav

Singapore handysize specialist Pioneer Marine has placed the commercial operations of its entire fleet of 16 vessels into the hands of Denmark’s BaltNav.

Baltnav, led by ex-Torm head of bulk Michael Bonderup, was founded in 2010 and has a focus on handysizes with this latest deal growing its fleet to 31 vessels.

Dimitris Papoulis, SVP and general manager of Pioneer Marine, commented: “We look very much forward to this cooperation which will place Pioneer’s fleet in alternative markets and thereby expand service to our existing and new customers.”

Baltnav established a Singapore office last month headed by Rasmus Takechi-Hansen and Anders Johannsen who moved from J. Lauritzen. Around the same time, Pioneer Marine appointed Torben Janholt as its CEO. Janholt was president and CEO of J. Lauritzen for over 14 years.
